At Tianyuan Packaging, we offer three production options for our customers: sampling, small-batch production, and mass production.
Our standard sampling fee is US$100 per design. So, is this fee really necessary?
The answer is: yes.
In the packaging industry, sampling fees typically range from US$100 to US$200 per design.
However, paying a sampling fee does not mean that the final mass-produced bags will be exactly identical to the sample. Even for the same product, slight variations in printing colors, bag dimensions, and other details can occur between different production batches.
And this is exactly why sampling is important.
Every sample produced before mass production essentially establishes a clear production standard.
During mass production, our printing team uses the approved sample as the color reference and adjusts the printing accordingly. At the bag-making stage, the production line is also adjusted based on the actual dimensions of the approved pre-production sample.
The goal is to make the final mass-produced bags as close as possible to the approved sample.
Once the first mass-production order is completed, the actual finished bags from that production run will normally become the reference standard for future orders.
This means that even though slight variations may occur between different production batches, future production will remain within the range of the established standard instead of gradually drifting further away from it.
In other words, sampling establishes a standard, and that standard helps maintain consistent quality over time.
If you already have an existing physical sample, you can also send it directly to us.
We can use your existing sample as the reference standard for future mass production, which can eliminate the need for a new sample.
For most standard flexible packaging products, Tianyuan Packaging charges US$100 per design for sampling.
This fee includes common finishes and features such as:
Glossy finish
Matte finish
Window
For special processes such as UV printing, the sampling fee may be higher due to the additional production processes and costs involved.
Regardless of the process, once your cumulative mass-production quantity reaches 50,000 pieces, or the minimum order quantity for the product, whichever is lower, the sampling fee can be refunded or credited toward the order value.
In other words, the sampling fee is not necessarily a final, non-refundable additional cost. For customers who plan to work with us on a long-term basis, the sampling fee can ultimately be recovered once the required production quantity is reached.
If you would like us to ship the samples to you, international courier shipping typically costs around US$15–20, depending on the destination country and actual shipping cost.
We normally send two samples.
For importers, trading companies, and packaging buyers who work with multiple customers, this allows you to keep one sample for internal records or future reference while using the other for physical confirmation.
The value of sampling is not simply receiving a sample. It establishes a product standard that can be produced, replicated, and maintained over the long term.
For a one-time purchase, sampling may simply be a cost. But for products that require long-term sales and repeat orders, sampling is an important starting point for maintaining consistent product quality.
